Apolka is an amazing sculptor living and working in Budapest. Her work is expressive and thought provoking. Apolka is an artist with the ability to see beauty where many people can not. She has been exhibiting her work since the mid-90’s and has been honored with numerous awards. Apolka creates her sculpture from bronze, stone and concert. She produces beautiful drawings and Japanese ink paintings as well, that reflect a similar style as the sculpture.
Her method of working is to create a series of sketches and drawings to formulate her ideas. During this time, she experiments with composition to find a solution for the theme. These ideas then become many versions of three dimensional wax pieces before deciding what will go on to casting into bronze.
Her sculpture pieces range in size from small to monumental. She creates an average of 30 new works annually depending on the projects and opportunities she is presented with. Her work is priced, depending on size, from $1,500 to $20,000 USD. Apolka keeps her bronze edition sizes very small, ranging from a series of 8 for smaller works and only 3 for larger pieces. She has been commissioned for several pieces and prefers to work through a gallery on these projects.
Apolka is currently represented in the United States and Canada by Budapest Objet D’Art and in Hungry by Gallery Bergman and Gallery Forrás. She is seeking to expand to new markets through gallery representation in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe, Asia and Latin America.
